Alex Teaches French

Un Américain qui parle français

About Alex Teaches French

My love affair with the French language began at around 10 years old, growing up in the suburbs of Washington D.C. I would pin French words onto my parents’ fridge door, fascinated by how they sounded and how they seemed to open a window into another world.

As the son of an American mother and British father in a completely anglophone household, speaking another language fluently felt like a far-off dream. But years of study, curiosity, and persistence slowly turned that dream into reality — and eventually, into a life in France.

In 2018, I created Alex Teaches French to help others experience that same joy of connection through language. What began as a few short videos has grown into something much bigger — a shared love for French culture, humor, and everyday expression.

From filming lessons in Paris to teaching the nuances of the subjunctive, my goal is always the same: to make French feel alive, approachable, and meaningful.

I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with cultural institutions and brands including Rosetta Stone, The City of Paris, The Frick Collection, the U.S. Embassy in Paris, and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York City.

Through Alex Teaches French, I hope to continue building meaningful bridges between languages, cultures, and people — one word, one story, and one shared moment at a time.

Bienvenue !
