Alex Teaches French

Un Américain qui parle français

About Alex Teaches French

At around 10 years of age, growing up in the suburbs of Washington D.C., my love affair with the French language began when I started pinning French words onto my parents’ fridge door. As the son of an American mother and British father in a fully anglophone context, speaking anything but English at a fluent level seemed like a distant dream. Over the years, through hard work and sheer passion, this distant dream became a reality. Today I am a fully fluent French speaker, with a strong academic background in the language: I studied French at Fordham University in New York City and the Sorbonne in Paris. After working as a bilingual newsroom editor between Paris and New York, I officially made the move to France in 2020.

In 2018, I decided to create Alex Teaches French to help others realise their dream of speaking the language. From Morocco to Manhattan, I have channeled my passion for creating linguistic and cultural video content to a vast range of people in a variety of places. I have collaborated with a mix of individuals and cultural institutions, including The City of Paris, French weekly news magazine Paris Match, The Frick Collection, The United States Embassy in Paris and The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York City.

Alex Teaches French to cultivate meaningful and fulfilling connections around a shared linguistic and cultural passion… making the language fun and approachable for others to learn.

Bienvenue !
